Allergies & Asthma
Program Overview
Allergic rhinitis and asthma are chronic inflammatory conditions that frequently coexist. We evaluate patients with seasonal and perennial allergies, exercise-induced bronchospasm, and mild-to-moderate persistent asthma. Management centers on trigger avoidance, appropriate pharmacotherapy, and monitoring of symptom control.
Patients with severe or refractory disease are referred to allergy/immunology or pulmonology for advanced testing and subspecialty management. Our role is to establish an accurate diagnosis, initiate guideline-directed therapy, and coordinate ongoing care.
Identification of environmental and seasonal triggers, targeted nasal and oral pharmacotherapy, and consideration of immunotherapy referral for refractory cases.
Spirometry-based diagnosis when available, stepwise therapy with inhaled controller and rescue medications, and action plan development for acute exacerbations.
Review of current controller and rescue medication use, inhaler technique assessment, and step-up or step-down adjustments based on symptom control.
Practical guidance on allergen avoidance, air quality considerations, and occupational or exercise-related triggers.
